In fall of 2012, co-founders Tim Moxley, Aaron Coury, Keith Weaver and I started the hashtag #weloveatl to collect submissions for a community-sourced Instagram art show benefitting the Atlanta Community Food Bank. That show was a huge success, but the community that formed around it became immediately more powerful. For the last three years, we've fostered the growth of that community, curating the best images from over 280,000 photos and building a vibrant community of citizen photographers which now includes 24,000 followers. Along the way, we've created a monthly series of Instameets that over 100 local Instagrammers at a time on photo adventures around the city, mounted annual month-long art shows, and spearheaded multiple public arts projects that feature the work from the #weloveatl community - including turning the 5 Points MARTA into an art gallery, creating public arts projects in association with Art on the Beltline and Elevate, and creating and curating an interactive display at CNN Center seen by over 2 million visitors in 2015. weloveatl is now a non-profit arts organization, and I currently serve as President of the Board of Directors.
